XPe12D

I am currently running the XT10 in an undersized (.25 cubic foot) sealed box placed under the passenger seat of a Geo Metro, and I am powering it with the XSeries 600.1 amplifier. The set up does a noticeable job of bass improvement, but I would not describe it as a dynamic improvement. At 4 ohms, the amplifier is rated at 200 Watts, and the gain is maximized with no sign of distortion. Being underpowered by 100 watts RMS, can I expect a dynamic difference with more power? Or would it be preferred to run a XPe12D off of the 600.1 and "wire it down" to a lower ohm rating? If so, how far can the XPe12D be wired down? The amplifier is 1 ohm stable.

Going to the XPE is like the difference between night and day. You would be doubling the power and I'm guessing putting the sub in the back of a hathback. Have you tried just putting the X-Tec in the hatch area? It should be noticeably louder. If you get an XPE12D, it will load the amp down to 2 ohms and should really wake things up. I would recommend a different enclosure though. Probably something in the 1.25 to 1.5 cubic foot range if you want to make it sound as good as possible. You can run a smaller enclosure, but you will probably loose some of the low end extension that woofer is capable of.

Thanx for the reply. The reason why it's under the seat is so it will be very difficult to remove lol I'll try your recommendations and post my results.
